What`s the Difference between a GFCI Outlet and a Regular Outlet?

GFCI outlets are electrical safety devices that are designed to block the flow of electrical current by turning power off as soon as a ground fault is detected. 

A GFCI outlet has a built-in sensor that detects changes in electric current flow by comparing how much electricity is flowing into an appliance and how much electricity is flowing out of it. 

If it notices a difference or imbalance in the flow (a sign that there is a possible electricity leak), it cuts the power off and shuts your appliance down.

On the other hand, a normal outlet is not equipped to notice such difference in the flow of current. 

So even when there is already a leak, your appliance continues to run and when you touch it, electricity will flow through your body and give you a shock.

 In worst case scenarios, the shock can be fatal.
